My son and I had a great time last year setting up a place to start a veggie garden, getting the soil ready, planting different seeds & then watching it grow. More exciting is that we get to collect and eat fresh organic vegetables all summer long.
This year we planted some new items in the veggie garden; asparagus, onions, garlic, artichokes, Oregon snap peas and some assortments of lettuce in addition to what we grew last year.

Pumpkins, lettuce, radishes, peas, carrots, cucumbers, corn, basil, parsley & sweet peas

I suggest making a "Seasonal Garden Plan," and write down what your planing to plant, when and where in your vegetable garden; some vegetables will be ready in early spring: spinach, lettuce, radishes. Others such as corn and peas will yield only one crop at the end of the season. It is good to keep these things in mind when making your plans of where and when to plant.
I planted lettuce in three set this year, sowing seeds about 3-4 weeks apart, that way I can hope to have fresh lettuce all season long.
